The world according to me
I believe there are certain things that need not be explained; words and phrases that need not be defined. One example phrase would be “reverse thrusters”.
I heard this phrase on the Weather Channel as part of the reason a plane landing in Chicago (I think) ran off the strip and into a street. The other reason was the weather, which isn’t a surprise consider the weather the region was experiencing last Thursday. What gets me is that after they said there may have been an issue with the reverse thrusters, the newscaster said something along the lines of “The reverse thrusters help slow the plane down when it is landing.”
Really? You mean they thrust in the opposite direction? No. Impossible. Tell me again, because I missed it the first time.
I would expect the viewing public of the Weather Channel to not need this definition. I would expect anyone who is out of the 6th grade to not need this definition.
Today marks the conclusion of the Fall semester, as today is the first day of finals. Soon the kids will all be on their way home. Then there’ll be a week before I head home for Christmas, followed by a trip to Columbus for a wedding. A wedding on New Year’s. (I heard someone say “awesome” out there. No it’s not. You’re wrong!)
Well, this was a short break from work.
